Metal Detecting: Beach Testing The New Garrett “AT MAX” Metal Detector

metal detector video

The new Garrett AT MAX! EDIT: (10/17) In this video I am using a very early “test” model of the AT Max. Many changes have been made to the detectors software …

Hey Beau! We wanted to send you an MX Sport last year so you can test it on the beach and underwater, but never heard back. The offer still stands. If your arrangement with Garrett doesn't allow this, we understand completely. Just thought you might want to make a fair comparison.

  2. William R - May 9, 2017 8:19 pm

celebrity video… you took this new GREAT machine to the beach and didn't even get it in the water?  All the way to Italy.
Any machine will do dry sand and mostly even wet sand… how about in knee deep salt water?  Whites boasted about their MX Sport… waterproof… Kellyco took one into the moving salt water and sensitivity had to be turned down to 3 to work it without interference.  Sensitivity to 3?   NO DEPTH !    Now the AT Max, a trip to the beach and Not into the salt water?  I smell something fishy… and it's not the Shark.  I want one of these machines… but I must see real videos of it in real hunting… else my money will either go to Nokta or Minelab .

  3. Durrington Dave - May 10, 2017 1:59 am

The only way I'll be upgrading my AT Pro is when they send me one to field test hint hint Garrett. They would get real feedback instead of biased opinion too !

  16. Madison Maine - May 12, 2017 12:27 am

Great fun hunt with your friends. Thanks for showing us the new machine. My question is more how it does in the Heavy Gravy of nails and iron, not how it ground balances at the beach. GL&HH

  17. WarEmblem64 - May 12, 2017 1:13 am

  23. Geoff Beepingmad - May 14, 2017 3:52 pm

  25. J Three B Digg'n Canada - May 15, 2017 4:10 pm

great hunt! Glad to see you guys have problems figuring out machines too! HH!

  26. Stuart Stuart - May 16, 2017 3:34 am

For your first metal detector is the AT Max worth the wait over the AT Pro

  27. Digger D - May 16, 2017 9:18 pm

Doesn't matter what Garrett brings out – I won't buy it.  I've approached them several times to buy parts for my AT and they won't sell them to me.  They insist you send your detector back to Texas for repairs – ridiculous.

  28. Outdoorsygal O - May 19, 2017 2:10 pm

So nice that you guys are trying out the new machine.
Interesting to watch as you use the "International" set up. I bet you guys would find that a little different huh?
    Cool having a backlight!
    Hmmm…..Dear Santa…….

  29. Metal Detector Tester - May 21, 2017 8:07 pm

  31. Mike Arthur - May 24, 2017 5:59 am

    Ok Chigg very important question.
Should I wait and buy the AT Max or snap up an AT Pro as prices drop?
Hunting in Missouri, some rivers mostly land .

  32. David Niemann - May 27, 2017 2:28 am

  35. DirtBleep Digger - June 27, 2017 3:35 pm

They don't seem to be to serious about the Garrett AT Max…..Cuttin up trying to have fun I guess…..Stevie Ray at Kellycodetectors told me he thinks this will be a great detector……Stevie is a nice guy. I guess we will see when folks start running the detectors.

  36. ringhunter 100 - July 15, 2017 1:44 am

  40. Doug Crane - September 18, 2017 3:45 am

Does Garrett ever have a giveaway for their metal detectors when you win one like the at max

  41. mauman - September 21, 2017 3:46 pm

just seems to be more of an ad channel now…

  42. Bill 457 - October 17, 2017 9:39 pm

    Beautiful machine

  43. Noah Seidenberg - October 20, 2017 1:15 am

I ordered one +Aquachigger, thanks to you and all your great vids. I really enjoy them. I live right across the street from a Lake Michigan beach and are excited to lean coin hunting. After I get educated I want to travel to the south and find some Civil War relics. Some people are knocking the AT Max. If all this is true then why would they be so deeply back ordered and there is a waiting list of weeks to get one?????

  44. Jonathan Greene - October 25, 2017 9:39 am

The tokens everyone was finding are used for carwashes

  45. John Griffiths - November 21, 2017 9:39 am

I have never used the iron mode to check the iron content. While it could save me digging bottle caps at the beach, the sand is so soft it just takes about the same time to go ahead and dig the strong signal.
